Studies have shown that messages on the stair risers increased usage of stairs.

While my friends who are in rehab and geriatric medicine encouraged us to buy a single-story house to prepare for old age in a wheelchair, we bought a 2-story house and consider the stairs a workout tool to help prevent needing the wheelchair.
